Queers in Property (QIP) in partnership with All Nations Housing (ANH) and Common Equity (CENSW) invite you to a special presentation about the journey of creating Australia’s first co-operative seeking to provide affordable, safe and secure housing for transgender (trans) women.

Common Equity NSW is a registered community housing provider specializing in Co-operative Housing, partnering with All Nations Housing Co-operative (All Nations) to deliver Australia’s first transgender (trans) Housing Co-op. Fortunately, CENSW has secured Sydney inner-city properties near essential medical and social services. However, the properties do need a significant refurbishment to bring them up to standard. CENSW are seeking partners to help to raise funds and complete the project ready for All-Nations to move in.

Trans women are vulnerable to homelessness and housing insecurity. Targeted access to safe, affordable and long-term housing is critical. The All-Nations Housing project will be life changing, allowing this collective to live safely as a community. This project won’t just put roofs over heads, it will transform the sense of health, safety and belonging that these women experience forever.

The inner-city properties will be held in perpetuity to continue to achieve this purpose, providing the same benefits for many more in the trans community in the years ahead.

We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our event partner and host Arup, and event sponsor Patch Planning.

This event is focused on the significance of Australia’s first trans co-op and highlights the journey of participants thus far. From the future residents to council, the architect, and not-for-profit partners, the collective effort behind this project is powerful and worth celebrating. QIP is proud to partner with All Nations Housing and Common Equity to share the stories of the women at its heart, the design journey, and the lasting impact this project will have on the community.
